By Lisa Capobianco Staff Writer A local Boy Scout is honoring wounded military members through his Eagle Scout project along a portion of Rails to Trails. Andrew Krar, senior patrol leader of Boy Scout Troop 45 at St. Paul’s Church in Southington, has prepared to move forward in building a pavilion dedicated to the Wounded Warrior Project on the linear trail about 100 feet from the dog park. The Southington Town Council recently voted to approve the project to move forward on town-owned property. Once completed, the 8 by 10-foot pavilion will be used for recreational purposes. “The project will be useful for people to enjoy,” Andrew told council members. A boy scout for nearly four years, the eighth grader attends the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering, with the hope of joining the U.S. Army. During a recent Town Council meeting, Andrew said he chose to honor the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides a variety of programs for veterans or service members with a physical or mental injury, illness or wound after serving on or after September 11, 2001 and their families, reported the service organization’s website.
