Comm - Brenden Peasley Eagle ScoutBoys Scout Troop 17 recognized their 29th Eagle Scout ceremony with the honoring of Brenden L. Peasley at the First Baptist Church in Southington on Dec. 12. Peasley’s journey began when he was six years old, as a result of a decision made with his father before he passed. “I joined scouts the following week,” he said. “I went through the cub scout ranks and enjoyed every minute of it. Scouts was a chance to learn, grow and socialize. It was always fun. My leaders were all positive male role models, which was exactly what I needed in my life.” His eagle project included a revitalization of the playground at Jaycee Park on Union Street in Plantsville. He raised over $1,500 in funds for the project and coordinated the efforts with the local Jaycees. The State of Connecticut General Assembly issued Brenden an official citation for his work. The scout is currently studying biomolecular science and will be joining the Army National Guard.
