To the editor: As the New Year arrives, it is time to take stock in what we have to be thankful for in our community and what we as citizens can do to enhance our community’s well-being and sustainability in the coming year. Many of us take for granted what we have in Bristol and think that someone else will always be there for us in times of emergency and disaster. While our first responders do an excellent job of providing these services, we need to look within to be able to help ourselves and others in the community to be prepared when disaster strikes. We need to see what we can do to enhance the lives of ourselves and our fellow citizens and neighbors. Make a solid resolution for the New Year; join a group whose motto is “neighbors helping neighbors.” The Bristol CERT is an active group of volunteers proud to do just that, being there for our neighbors and our community in times of need, doing the right thing at the right time for the right reason.
