By MICHAEL LETENDRE STAFF WRITER WINDHAM – The Bristol Central boys and girls cross country teams participated in the 37th Annual Haddam Windham Cross Country meet on Saturday, Sept. 12 from Windham High School. The Rams did well as the boys nabbed a 10th place finish – out of 21 teams – while the girls were a top-12 squad at the event. Glastonbury won the boys event behind 61 points, Simsbury placed second (96), while Norwich Free Academy went for third (115). Central earned that 10th place finish behind 227 points. For the girls, Tolland impressed again – earning four of the top 16 finishes – in nabbing first place with 66 points. Simsbury took second (104), South Windsor was third (112), and Conard of West Hartford earned fourth (124). Central, taking 11th in the girls meet, scored 280 points out of the 16 teams at the event. In the boys race, Central’s Matt Varnum (17th, 17:10), Roberto Luis-Fuentes (43rd, 18:15), and Matt Roy (46th, 18:20) all ran well for the Bristol outfit.
