By MICHAEL LETENDRE STAFF WRITER MIDDLETOWN – The Plainville boys swim team took on the challenge of the Class S championships from the campus of Wesleyan University in Middletown on Wednesday, March 18. The Blue Devils battled and ended up seizing a tie for 18th place along with Waterford. Weston won the championship behind a 683-point showing while Holy Cross of the Naugatuck Valley League nabbed second with 590. Northwestern grabbed third place (507), Sacred Heart took fourth (480) while Haddam-Killingworth wrapped up fifth (280). As a squad, Plainville made a 15th place finish in the 400 freestyle relay event. The Blue Devils grouping of Lorenzo Samperi, Jarred Karal, Isaiah Bandle, and Trevor Bloom earned a finish in 3:54.53. Also in the 200 medley relay, the Plainville combination of Josh Schilling, Trevor Roy, Jarred Karal, and Trevor Bloom earned 16th with a time of 2:00.04. In the 200 individual medley, Trevor Roy seized 19th place in 2:25.17 while Jarred Karal grabbed 24th overall (2:31.33).
