By LINDSAY CAREY STAFF WRITER The Plainville School Readiness Council is inviting any preschool serving Plainville children to apply for grant funded school readiness spaces. The council is able to provide tuition to parents who may have financial constraints, which allows them to pay on a sliding scale. This grant already funds spots at two different preschools in Plainville. Eighteen spots are provided by the grant for the Plainville Early Learning Center’s full day preschool and 10 spots at Penny’s Playground in Plainville. This Plainville Early Learning Center’s preschool has been running for four years and the seats are already full. However, there are still available spots for enrollment at Penny’s Playground. This grant also helps provide these programs with necessary costs to upgrade the facility and technology as well as purchasing instructional supplies. The Plainville School Readiness Council has also taken an interest in helping aspiring preschool teachers who work in Plainville by offering scholarships to candidates who both work in a Plainville preschool or Day Care Center and are enrolled in a program for preschool certification.
