PHS can’t pull off victory at final home game

By BRIAN JENNINGS STAFF WRITER PLAINVILLE – The Plainville Blue Devils (4-14) boys basketball team hosted the Bulkeley Bulldogs (9-8) in their last home game of the regular season on Tuesday, night, Feb. 17 in the Ivan L. Wood Gymnasium at Plainville High School, but ended things on a sour note. The Blue Devils headed into the locker room down by nine at the half, 22-13, coming out in the second half and scoring the first five points. The Blue Devils were strong on the boards and Austin Butler took the game over, scoring 11 of the team’s 17 points in the third quarter. However, forced crosscourt passes and missed jump shots would get the best of the Blue Devils, as the Bulldogs picked up the divisional W, 59-46. Butler led the Blue Devils with 20 points. Tim Dixon followed with 16 and Andrew Schuman with nine. DeVante Davis led the Bulldogs with 17 points. “When you have an opportunity to get close or get ahead, you have to do it,” said Plainville coach Jim DiNello. “Our first five possessions were really good.
