By LINDSAY CAREY STAFF WRITER A lifelong Plainville resident is seeking donations to help buy an electric wheelchair, which will allow him to be more mobile and independent. William “Billy” Ball has been living in the Plainville Housing Authority in the handicapped and senior apartments for two years now after struggling with health issues. Ball’s health struggles began with a life-threatening case of pneumonia and a four month stay in 2008, according to his donation webpage. The drugs he was administered during that time had a negative effect on his kidneys, which are functioning at about 30 percent. In 2011, Ball fell down the stairs of his second floor apartment, which temporarily impaired both of his arms. However, this year more bad news came when Ball was diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis. According to his donation webpage, this means that his hip bone is not receiving the proper blood flow which is causing the bone to deteriorate.
