To the editor: On Sunday, Nov. 9, I went to the Memorial Boulevard School to see a show called “God Bless the USA.” It was a tribute to our veterans and was produced and directed by the Holiday Showcase of Stars, in conjunction with the city of Bristol’s Memorial Boulevard School Task Force. It was Bristol’s own USO show and what a job they did. Now, this is a very special place to me and I have many fond memories of it. I attended Bristol Central High School and graduated from there many years ago. Although the building needs repairs, it hasn’t lost its charm and beauty. I believe that Bristol residents will support our theater. That was evident when over 130 volunteers showed up to clean the school the week before the shows, which was a labor of love. The show was a huge success – shown by the over 750 people who packed the house. The audience sang along with the performers and applauded with standing ovations. I heard nothing but accolades.
