The City of Bristol is scheduled to start reconstructing a portion of Matthews Street from Hill Street to Clark Avenue starting Monday, July 1. Work will consist of pulverizing the existing pavement, recycling the material to create a new roadway base, re-grading the roadway surface and installing new asphalt and curbing. The work will take approximately two weeks to complete. Residents are advised that the portion of driveways located within the city roadway right of way will be disturbed and reconstructed as part of the project. Once construction is complete, the City will restore affected areas by loaming, seeding, repairing walkways and driveway aprons. There may be minor traffic delays during construction, however the road will remain open for mail delivery, emergency vehicles, and local traffic at all times.
