By MICHAEL LETENDRE STAFF WRITER BRISTOL, R.I. – Anytime you’re able to play four years of baseball at the collegiate level, it’s certainly a credit to hard work and perseverance. Roger Williams University has started the season on a 16-6 tear and has strong, local leadership helping to guide the squad along in 2014. Senior Mike Thomas – the former Plainville High School standout – is having another impressive campaign for RWU and his squad is mirroring that success. Thomas has played in all 22 games to date this season – all starts – and has been batting around .210 for the Hawks. He has 14 hits in 67 at-bats while posting 12 RBI on the campaign. Thomas also collected two doubles, a home run, and scored a total of seven runs this spring. He’s been hit by a pitch twice and has drawn four walks in a very busy slate of games. And don’t forget about his throwing arm. Thomas actually started a game on the mound against Bowdoin on March 10 and in his inning of work, he tallied a strikeout and earned a no decision in the contest.
