By LISA CAPOBIANCO STAFF WRITER The Plainville Chamber of Commerce kicked off its 4th Annual Pizza Feud event with six local restaurants competing for several different titles as voted by guests. Sponsored by Farmington Bank and Rapacky and Rapacky, the event brought out a crowd to Nuchies Restaurant in Forestville where guests tried a variety of signature pies. DJ BB PRO provided entertainment. “It was very successful,” said Maureen Saverick, the operations manager at the chamber, adding that the turnout was excellent. “Nuchies was packed.” Six local pizza restaurants participated including D’Amico’s Restaurant, Sergio’s Pizza, Two Brother’s Pizza, Pagliacci’s Restaurant, West Main Pizza and Vero Pizza. This year the voting process changed, as pizza lovers cast their ballot for different categories, including “Best Veggie,” “Best Specialty,” and “Best Cheese.” All votes were tallied for the category of “Best Overall.” Located on Farmington Avenue for a year now, Vero Pizza won all four categories. The restaurant uses artisan breads, locally-farmed produce, unbleached flours, and natural meats. “We were surprised—it was unexpected,” said co-owner Marios Nicolaou. “The overall event was well done—it was a good experience and a fun time for everyone.” Vero Pizza featured about 20 different pies, including its barbeque [...]
