Former proposed Bread for Life site set for different use

By Lisa Capobianco Staff Writer The Southington Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a site application for a retail and/or office space next to Derynoski School—the same location that Bread for Life initially proposed for its new facility last fall. AA Denorfia Building & Development LLC purchased the property on 296 Main Street next to the elementary school with a plan to use the space for office and retail purposes. During a recent Planning and Zoning meeting, specific details of the plan were not released. “It’s really at the discretion of the commission,” said Town Planner Robert Phillips, adding that the health development will not get involved with the site plan since it will no longer be used for food services. It’s a proposal that doesn’t have a specific tenant basically, so I just don’t know where to go with the basic sight plan.” Last fall, Bread for Life, which provides meals to people in need five days a week, submitted a site application to build a facility on 296 Main Street with the goal of expanding the size of its facility to meet the growing demand of its feeding program.
