Larkin sworn in as town clerk

By Lisa Capobianco Staff Writer Southington recently welcomed its new town clerk, Kathy Larkin, as she was sworn in by former town clerk Leslie Cotton on Monday. With 28 years of experience working in the Southington Town Clerk’s office, Larkin said she has enjoyed working for the town. Right after high school, Larkin had a part-time position in the clerk’s office, spending her time helping residents, filing records and typing, among other duties. “This is where I grew up,” said Larkin, who was born and raised in Southington. “It is a great working environment.” Larkin formerly worked at Bozzutos, Inc. in Cheshire for about five years prior to landing a full-time position in the town clerk’s office. She also attended Connecticut Town Clerk School, learning the ins and outs of town clerk duties before receiving her certification in 1999. While attending the New England Municipal Clerks Institute and Academy years later, Larkin polished her professionalism in her role in the town clerk’s office. Larkin moved her way up the ladder, becoming the Deputy Town Clerk in 2006.
