Cute, styling stocking stuffers

The photographs were taken inside of the New Britain Museum of American Art.By MIKE CHAIKEN EDITIONS EDITOR If you’re looking for some pretty baubles as a stocking stuffer for the women in your life, Rachel DeCavage of Sugarplum in Southington has introduced a line of colorful, fun, whimsical earrings for the season. “I wanted to make a ‘stocking stuffer bar’ at the shop and every girl loves getting jewelry for the holidays. It seemed like an obvious choice,” said Rachel. The jewelry is constructed out of vintage cabochons, beads and brass pieces, and then Rachel adhered them to earring backings. “All the colors and shapes are upcycled but the earring hardware is new,” said Rachel. As for the process of pulling the pieces together, Rachel said she organized “a bunch of doodads that I liked and made the earrings. I put them in sets that looked good together. Each set has an assortment of sizes, shapes and colors that could work well in a wardrobe. I tried to keep styles similar in each set.” Rachel sees the pieces as a perfect gift for “any stylish girl– ages 10 to 30… They’re simple, fun and an easy add-on for a look.
