William P. “Bill” Doty, 87, of Bristol, widower of his Beloved wife, Lucy M. (Mossa) Doty, passed away unexpectedly at Bristol Hospital on Thursday, January 28, 2016 with his daughters by his side. Bill was born in Bristol on March 17, 1928 son of the late Andrew and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Doty. He was a lifelong Bristol resident and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired from Marlin Rockwell/SKF in Plainville and was a longtime member of St. Matthew Church, Forestville. Bill was a devoted Dad and Grandfather with whom he adored his Grandson Spenser Butterworth of Bristol who was so dear to his heart, along with his “furry grandson” Jazz-Purr, aka “Big Boy” who he also loved dearly. Bill enjoyed playing cards and was an avid Cribbage player. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Polish club in Forestville and was an avid UConn Husky’s fan. Bill loved people and his kind, warm-hearted nature acquired many friendships over the years of which he cherished.
