By MICHAEL LETENDRE STAFF WRITER When Paul Philippon was tapped to once take the reins of the Bristol Eastern football program this past year, the assumption was the long time mentor would continue the Lancers’ long streak of successful play for many years to come. However, the team only captured one victory in 2015 and for the second consecutive year, the program will be looking for a new head coach. It will only be a one-season gig for Philippon at Eastern as he has stepped down from the reins of the program. Philippon leaves the program with a 32-28-2 overall record in 62 games but certainly made an impact on the squad during his six seasons as the head coach. In fact, it was in Philippon’s first go-around – starting in 2004 – that saw a rebirth in the program, a commitment to the weight room and to the team – and quickly, Eastern won over thirty games in his initial stint with the squad.
