By TAYLOR HARTZSTAFF WRITER More than 600 pairs of blue jeans filled the Aqua Turf on Friday evening, as guests gathered for the 13th Annual Forever in Blue Jeans charity event. Hosted by the Southington Community YMCA, the event raised more than $70,000. All funds will be donated back to the community through the YMCA Annual Fund, providing access to the YMCA for those who cannot otherwise afford it. In a red, white, and blue, filled room, guests enjoyed both silent and live auctions throughout the evening. The Southington Brass performed patriotic tunes while guests enjoyed an open bar, before sitting down for an American-themed dinner menu. More than 200 items were up for grabs during the two auctions. Local businesses such as Soul Space Yoga offered class passes, dozens of restaurants in town provided gift cards, and local artists donated paintings and wood-workings. Getaways were up for grabs, including hopper passes for Disney World and limo-lead microbrewery tours across the state, along with Southington-themed favorites, like opportunities to jump the apple fritter line at next year’s Apple Harvest Festival.
