Southington police release Click it or Ticket results

The Southington Police Department participated in the Click It or Ticket campaign from November 26 through December 1. During this high visibility enforcement campaign officers worked not only on routine patrols but in special enforcement details to enforce the Connecticut seatbelt laws. Officers were also paying particular attention to distracted driving while out during this enforcement campaign. The results of Southington’s week long enforcement campaign are as follows:  40 drivers were cited for seatbelt violations, one driver was cited for failure to have a child restrained in a child seat, 17 people were cited for speeding violations, two drivers were cited for driving under the influence and 50 drivers were cited for other traffic violations including cell phone violations, operating unregistered motor vehicles and failure to obey a stop sign. Five non traffic criminal arrests were also made during the traffic stops.
