Soprano, guitarist to perform at library Oct. 22

Soprano Emily Riggs and guitarist Daniel Hartington will give a free concert at the Plainville Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. The duo are sponsored by the New Britain Symphony and will play works from the Renaissance up to modern times. They will perform music for voice and guitar from John Dowland (1563-1626), Stephen Foster (1826-1864) – including “Beautiful Dreamer”, Fernando Sor (1778-1839), and Joaquin Rodrigo (1901-1999). Emily Riggs is an assistant professor of voice at Eastern Connecticut State University, where she teaches private voice and is the director of Eastern Opera. Daniel Hartington performs regularly as a guitar soloist and extensively as part of a number of chamber ensembles. He is on the faculty of Eastern Connecticut State University and the Hartt School Community Division at the University of Hartford. The Friends of the Plainville Library will provide refreshments after the performance. For more information call the library at (860)793-1446.
