By BRIAN JENNINGS STAFF WRITER Southington quarterback Jasen Rose stepped to the podium in workout shorts and a white Southington football shirt, surrounded by multiple news outlets, friends, family, and fellow teammates packed into the Southington High School library. On Thursday, Sept. 17, Rose announced that he will remain in blue and white as he will be attending the University of Connecticut in Storrs to play football for the Huskies next fall where he will have a chance to compete for the quarterback position. Rose narrowed his decision down to UConn and Syracuse, but also had other offers from University of Wisconsin, West Virginia University, Boston College, and University of Maryland. “I chose UConn because I would get early playing time,” said Rose. “I think I have a pretty good shot at playing in my first few years.” Staying in his home state also played a major part in Rose’s decision, being only about a one hour drive from his biggest supporters, his family and friends. “Basically, Connecticut is home, so that was what really brought it to the top,” said Rose. “My dad’s been there through it all. I couldn’t thank him enough. My mom, she’s my No. 1 supporter. […]
