Blue Devils expect to be in swim of things

By BRIAN JENNINGS STAFF WRITER The girl’s swimming and diving team finished the 2014 regular season in third place of the CCC South with a 4-8-1 record (1-2-1 in the division). At the Class S State Meet, they finished 14th out of 31 schools. “We had a strong season last year, losing a couple of close meets that came down to the last couple of events,” said third-year, Plainville coach Chris Zagorski. “We had a very strong senior class leave, but I’m excited to see what this year’s crop of swimmers will bring to the table. I think that we will be right in the middle of the pack for the CCC South.” Key losses of the team include Megan Dalena (Class S finalist in 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 medley relay, and 400 freestyle relay), Nicole Basile (Class S finalist in 100 breaststroke, 200 medley relay, and 400 freestyle relay), Molly Schade (Class S finalist in 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay, and Class S qualifier in 200 freestyle), and Nina Golden (Class S finalist in 200 freestyle relay).
