By MICHAEL LETENDRE STAFF WRITER EAST HAVEN – The Plainville softball team had nothing to lose during its first round, Class M challenge against East Haven on Tuesday, May 28. And credit to the Blue Devils, the squad didn’t play its best game of the season but kept things close early to make a game of it. Plainville’s Rachel Lancaster pitched well to start as East Haven was only able to tally a solitary run over the first three frames before the home team notched several runs late as No. 6 East Haven defeated No. 27 Plainville 9-1 in a Class M first round game from East Haven. With the loss, the Blue Devils finished its season out at 9-12 while East Haven moved to 19-4 with the winning effort. The Yellowjackets limited Plainville to only three hits and one run in the contest, which was scored in the sixth inning of play. Talia Loda went the distance for East Haven while Lancaster – who pitched so well throughout the season – absorbed a tough loss in the tournament challenge.
