By TAYLOR HARTZ STAFF WRITER Ten students will have the chance to see their summer through the lens of a camera, thanks to a youth photography course being taught by retired photojournalist and publicist Judy Humphrey at the Plainville Public Library. The aspiring young photographers will spend five weeks training their photographic eye and will see their work displayed in the New Britain Museum of American Art at the end of the course. The library is holding the series of free classes from July 9 to August 6 for students in grades seven through twelve. The class will be held every Thursday morning as part of a joint effort between the Plainville Library, the Snappy Seniors Photo Club and the Plainville Recreation Department to teach the art of photography to students. The five-week course will include a lesson introducing photography, three field trips to take photos in nearby towns, and a class on matting and framing their favorite photos for a gallery display. The New Britain Museum of American Art will promote the students’ photos with a reception at the museum on Aug. 20, to debut the work that will remain on display through Aug. 22.
