To the editor: That was a fine article (Observer, May 29, 2015) concerning the Quinnipiac River Watershed Association. Not mentioned, and perhaps many people are unaware of, is that the surface drainage from the area bordered by Aircraft Road, Queen Street, and Spring Street runs openly and steadily into the Quinnipiac beside the bridge at the end of Aircraft Road. To all this will be added the garbage disposal now under construction on Spring Street. We are only temporary guests on this planet, not owners, yet we constantly rob it of irreplaceable minerals, oil, and gas. We abuse and alter it to meet the needs of a terribly faulted, man-made economic concept which must constantly expand to survive. China, India, and much of the East have a population larger than the soil can support, and the residue of an overpopulated Central America is already creeping across our southern border. Continuing on the present course can only result in a horde of human vermin crawling over a mass of radioactive concrete and asphalt rubble, searching and killing for a morsel of food.
