Letter: Reader comments on how council handled Old Linden Street

To the editor: The funding to demolish Old Linden Street School— oops, I mean the annual town budget— has passed, which now allows our Town Council to vote to demolish the school. I now feel free to openly voice my opinion not only on the fate of the school, but the manner in which this entire process was handled. To do so, I have broken it down into two categories, how the fate of the school was decided, and secondly the manner in which the funding to demolish the school was handled. What is disturbing is that the fate of the school was determined long before any public forums, Town Hall, or town council meetings. I base this, and I ask town residents to think about it, what options other then demolishing of the building were proposed by our Town Council. The answer is none. Any specific resident suggestions were immediately determined unacceptable. In fact, all that is proposed is building a park once “OLS” is demolished, a proposal where there are no funds available to do so?
