By TAYLOR HARTZSTAFF WRITER Mike Fasulo, a life-long Southington resident and partner at Fasulo and Alibini CPAs, is the recipient of UNICO’s 2015 Gold Medal of Honor. Fasulo has been a member of UNICO, the largest Italian-American organization in the country, since 1991 and served as the organization’s president in 2005. “I cannot think of anything else I’d be more honored to get,” said Fasulo. A prestigious honor in the Southington community, UNICO has been awarding their gold medal for 70 years. The annual award “signifies that the recipient has followed a path in life that models the ideals of UNICO, namely ‘service above self,’” said Nick Botsacos, Gold Medal Dinner Committee Chairmen. Fasulo’s active community involvement certainly shows that he honors the ideal of service. When asked what areas of the community he was most involved in, he joked that he would have to dig out a list. After graduating from Southington High School in 1977 and Boston College in 1981, Fasulo returned to his hometown where he founded Fasulo and Albini CPAs in 1992.
