By BRIAN JENNINGS STAFF WRITER BERLIN – The Blue Devils (2-1) boys golf team opened its season up with a win against the Middletown Blue Dragons (0-1), 210-212, at Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield on Tuesday, April 14. The Devils showed improvement on Thursday at Timberlin Golf Course in Berlin, where they split in a dual match against the Berlin Redcoats (3-0) and Platt Panthers (1-2), but improved by nine strokes at. The Devils (201) were able to hold off the Panthers (231), but were overpowered by the Redcoats (159). “Berlin’s 159 was not a surprise,” said Plainville coach Brendan King. “That’s the best team we’ll face all year. Berlin’s the class of the league, but our kids were really fighting to be competitive and that’s all I can ask for.” Nick D’Amico led the Devils as the No.1-ranked golfer, shooting a 41 (+5).
