A tour of Old Linden Street School will be held on Saturday, April 18 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Residents who wish to tour the interior of the school are invited to attend. Access will be at the Linden Street entranceway. The Old Linden Street School is proposed to be demolished per a recommendation of a study committee that determined that there was no practical use or need for the structure. Limitations of the building include a lack of available parking and the close proximity to an existing elementary school. Police Chief Matt Catania stated any reuse of the building not directly related to the existing school operation would severely compromise security in and around the building. The Board of Education has determined there is no need for the structure for educational use in the future. The building has been vacant since 2009 and currently has a leaking roof. It is estimated the minimum amount of money to renovate the building is $7 million.
