The Town Council will discuss a possible referendum tonight to appropriate $5 million to fix a number of roads that have not been repaved in many years. During a tonight’s meeting, Town Manager Robert Lee will introduce an ordinance to the council to appropriate $5 million. If the ordinance is adopted, a referendum to appropriate the money will be required, and the Council will schedule a public hearing. During the last Town Council meeting held March 16, Lee said town staff recommends that the council authorize moving forward with a road bond proposal. If approved by the voters, it would be in place to have some of the work done during the upcoming construction season, said Lee. “This winter has made this need something that should move forward as quickly as possible,” said Lee. During that meeting, the Council agreed to move forward to address the need for road repairs.
