On Friday, March 20, the Southington Police Department conducted a driving under the influence (DUI) checkpoint. The investigation was held between the hours of 10 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. on Queen Street, south of the I-84 westbound on-ramp. During this time Officers stopped and spoke briefly to every vehicle that passed through the checkpoint. According to a press release from the Southington Police Department, officers issued two arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. In addition, police issued one verbal warning and one written warning for equipment violations and two infractions. One infraction was issued for operating a motor vehicle without a drover’s license, and another was issued for possession of less than one half ounce of marijuana.
