The Plainville Board of Education and the Plainville Community Schools’ Naming Committee will hold an induction ceremony on April 13 at Plainville High School for the Memorial Wall of Honor, according to Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jeffrey Kitching. The ceremony, honoring inductees in memoriam Frank D. Steffany and Walter J. Majsak, will be held at the Memorial Wall of Honor in the east corridor outside of the Plainville High School pool. The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m., with a reception following immediately after in the Plainville High School cafeteria. Steffany served as a member and chair of the Plainville School Building Committee providing 20-plus years of service including oversight of the addition to Plainville Junior High School, additions to the three elementary schools, Plainville High School 1970s addition of the pool and fields, building of the Plainville Municipal Center and building of the new Plainville Fire Department. He was a Marine, serving his country in World War II, and was a member of the VFW Post 574. In addition, he was a member of the town softball team, and was a local self-employed building contractor from 1960-1987.
