Despite senior night loss, swim coach praises team

By BRIAN JENNINGS STAFF WRITER PLAINVILLE – Blue and white streamers hung over the doorways, balloons floated from the railings, and posters dressed the walls. With only nine currently on the roster, the Plainville Blue Devils boys swimming and diving team honored their only senior, Trevor Roy, in their last meet of the regular season against the Suffield Wildcats on Tuesday, Feb. 24. The Wildcats defeated the Blue Devils, 83-75. But Plainville coach Chris Zagorski said he thought his team swam phenomenally, as it showed in the times turned in by the Blue Devils to make their last meet of the regular season the closest thus far. “Knowing that it’s the last meet and there’s a week and a half until the conference meet was shown by the way they were working,” said Zagorski. “They were able to get their energy level up, push each other, and feed off of each other to get the times that they did. I think that’s phenomenal. They’ve been swimming well the second half of the season.
