An accident that happened at a stop light ended with one of the car occupants being arrested and detained for deportation. Sunday afternoon, police responded to an accident at the intersection of Pine Street at Riverside Avenue. A press release said a Ford Explorer hit a Nissan Versa that was stopped at a red signal light. When the occupants of the Nissan got out of the car to assess the damage, the driver of the Ford, Roman Jimenez, 45 of 41 Peck Lane in Bristol, “intentionally accelerated his vehicle at the two” occupants forcing them to jump out of the way, the release said. Jimenez then, police said, “rammed the Nissan deliberately forcing it up onto the grass median.” One of the occupants of the Nissan, Austin Billings, was hit in the knee and was taken to Bristol Hospital to treat his injury. Jimenez was taken from his vehicle by witnesses and, when police arrived, was arrested and charged with operation of motor vehicle under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, failure to drive at reasonable distance, operating motor vehicle without a license, and failure to maintain auto insurance.
