By LINDSAY CAREY STAFF WRITER The community has been supporting Plainville Community Food Pantry in a number of ways this holiday season, however, as Christmas gets closer there are even more opportunities for donations. The Plainville Community Food Pantry was able to collect about 18,000 pounds of food from a week long food drive at Gnazzo’s Food Center in late November. However, food drives are not the only way to support the food pantry. A live show at the VFW in Plainville featuring Happy Hour Legend John Morgan was also another success. According to Executive Director of the Plainville Community Food Pantry Susie Woerz said that about 250 people turned out the event. “It was a great event,” said Woerz. “We raised over $6,000.” Now the food pantry needs the community to come forward once again to help out with the Secret Santa gifts that the organization is providing for over 100 youth and senior citizens. Anyone can adopt a family through the pantry to support as their Secret Santa or they can purchase gift cards to local stores.
