Southington Library’s Annual “Food for Fines” Collection to help Southington Community Service stock their shelves will be held Monday, Nov. 24 through Wednesday, Dec. 31. The “Food for Fines” collection is a time when Southington patrons may offset their overdue fines with non-perishable food items. All donations go to help Southington Community Services restock their shelves during the holiday season. Patrons are asked to bring their overdue item along with a non-perishable item and their library card to the library Lending Desk. Please check the expiration date on your non-perishable, unopened food item before donating. Lost or damaged materials, fees for losses that are in billing or collection stages, and lost card fees are not included in the food drive. “Food for Fines” collection begins Monday, Nov. 24 and ends Wednesday, Dec. 31. The library “Mitten Tree” also will be ready for decorating. Patrons may bring new mittens, hats, gloves, scarves, and socks. Handmade items are always appreciated.
