Local youth has part in Hollywood movie

By Mike Chaiken Cody Pettola, 9, a student at Thalberg Elementary School, has a part in the film “The Judge.” By Mike Chaiken Editions Editor If you head out to the movie and decide to check out the film “The Judge,” you’ll may notice a familiar face from central Connecticut. Cody Pettola, a 9-year-old fourth grader at Thalberg Elementary School in Southington, is in the movie, which stars Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall. The website for the movie explains “In ‘The Judge,’ Downey stars as big city lawyer Hank Palmer, who returns to his childhood home where his estranged father, the town’s judge (Duvall), is suspected of murder. He sets out to discover the truth and along the way reconnects with the family he walked away from years before.” Cody said he is in two scenes of “The Judge.” In one, he is in a backyard playing with his on-screen “brother.” And in another one, he’s in his pajamas on a Christmas morning in the 1960s. Cody said he filmed “The Judge” last summer in Boston, where his mother and he commuted each day of the filming.
