Touting his plans to bring good-paying jobs to central Connecticut, State Senate Candidate Rob Michalik participated in a tour of local manufacturing companies on Thursday, Oct. 10. Michalik invited U.S. Senator Chris Murphy along for the tour. At their first stop, Plainville’s Modern Woodcraft, a 40-year-old locally owned business that employs nearly 65 workers in high end mill work, a press release from his campaign said Michalik spoke of the need to make it easier for small businesses to thrive in Connecticut. The release quoted Michalik, “When I am in the state Senate I will take steps to cut red tape and eliminate unnecessary regulations that prevent businesses from growing. Additionally, by partnering with our community colleges and trade schools, we can offer targeted and specialized job training programs that meet the needs of Connecticut manufacturers – ensuring that we have a workforce that is highly skilled and productive.” Later, the release said, Michalik and Sen. Murphy visited Springfield Spring in Bristol. The business manufactures springs, wire forms, stampings and light assemblies.
