The Plainville Wind Ensemble enter their 27th concert season with the 10th annual Veteran’s Day Concert on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. in Welte Hall of Central Connecticut State University. Sponsored by the University’s Veterans Affair Department, the concert is dedicated to all veterans and those presently serving in the military. Conducted by Kenneth Bagley, “America’s Call to Freedom War and Remembrance” will feature the music of America ranging from the War of 1812 to Desert Storm. Selections such as American Civil War Fantasy, Symphony No. 1- In Memoriam Dresden-1945 and Elegy for a Young American “will re-establish the mood of a thankful nation as depicted by Norman Rockwell as we continue to enjoy the Four Freedoms: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want and Freedom from Fear due to the perseverance of our service men and women past and present,” said a press release from the ensemble. The Plainville Wind Ensemble’s guest will be Honor Flight New England. Honor Flight New England joined with the national organization Honor Flight Network in the spring of 2009 and is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for “all of their sacrifices,” said the ensemble’s press release.
