According to a press release from the Betty Boukus campaign, in an Oct. 4 letter to the incumbent state representative in the 22nd district, the Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut announced it has endorsed Boukus’s candidacy for re-election for the district, which includes all of Plainville and part of New Britain. The association stated, said the release from Boukus’s campaign, “This action is taken after careful consideration of your record of support for the Professional Fire Fighters of the State of Connecticut and your commitment to helping to insure the health and safety of our brothers and sisters throughout the state.” The release said the union continued “by thanking Representative Boukus for her support on issues including those ‘of importance to the fire service at large and stating that they “are proud of our association with you.’” In response to the endorsement, the press release reported, Boukus said, “I am honored to have the support of this group who protect the lives of our people.
