The Water Department issued this following emergency statement regarding a water main break on Pine Street. Emergency Construction Notice: “The Bristol Water Department has a water main break on Pine Street by Pine Lake. Since last Thursday, we have noticed that our daily production had increase by approximately 750,000 gallons per day. Our crews worked since Friday searching for what we believed was a leak by checking all water mains and fire hydrants East of Middle Street. Throughout the weekend we monitored production and tank levels to determine if the increase in production was actually a leak or just higher than normal consumption due to the dry conditions. At no time was the water system ever in any emergency status. “This morning our office received a customer call concerning lower than normal pressure and after a thorough investigation in the area, we found water seeping into a culvert between Pine Lake and the detention pond on the north side on Pine Street. “It appears that the break may be close or under the culvert within Pine Street. “Our crews will begin excavation in the next hour and anticipate that work will continue into the late afternoon or early evening. “Once the location of […]
