By Ed Harris Editor The town is partnering with a New York based company to create videos aimed at promoting the community. Over the last several months, Town Manager Garry Brumback has worked with the Town Council to bring in CGI Communications, from Rochester NY. The company works with 2,500 communities nationwide, helping them to better promote and market themselves. “I think this is a wonderful opportunity,” Brumback said. Brumback recently announced the partnership with a letter posted on the town’s website. What CGI Communications does is produce a series of half a minute to a minute long videos focused on the various aspects of a community, including education, infrastructure, non-profits and the like. The videos, which are produced for free, are then placed on the town’s website and relocate.org, a relocation network associated with CGI Communications. To generate revenue, CGI Communications sells ad space on the videos to local businesses. The ads are embedded around the video player and are not included in the video itself. Representatives from CGI Communications were recently in Southington, talking to businesses about getting on board.
