A painful lesson on NASCAR track

Whether it’s a full blown NASCAR event or a 125 lap challenge from the old Plainville Stadium, mishaps can happen anywhere. When you mix high speed with force, gravity, and gasoline, you’re headed for a combustible situation that can lead to doom, demise and unfortunately, death. And when someone loses their life in pursue of his NASCAR dream, it’s a sad, sad day. From Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the Dayton 500 in 2001, to the tragic passing of Dave MacDonald and Eddie Sachs at the Indianapolis 500 in 1964, to the multiple deaths of drivers and fans at the 1955 24 Hours of Le Mans race, it’s all part of the sport. You can take all the safety precautions you want – double checking, triple checking the car – but all it takes is a nudge by another car or a sudden stop, and that’s when tragedy strikes.
