Democratic State Senate candidate for the 31st district, Robert Michalik announced in a press release his opposition to Connecticut Light & Power’s proposed $232 million electric rate increase. Michalik said in his press release he will speak out against the rate hike Wednesday at a public hearing on the matter at the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority office located at 10 Franklin Square in New Britain. “Connecticut’s electricity rates are already among the highest in the nation.” said Michalik in his news release. “With so many families and businesses still struggling in this economy, this proposed rate hike is simply indefensible.” “Wednesday’s hearing is an opportunity for the voices of Bristol, Plainville, Thomaston, Plymouth and Harwinton to be heard on this issue. I am encouraging all residents to join me tomorrow to urge PURA to reject CL&P’s proposed increase,” said Michalik in his release.
