State expected to give town $950K for artificial turf at PHS

State Representative Betty Boukus (D- Plainville, New Britain) announced that $950,000 in state funding to construct a synthetic turf athletic field at Plainville High School is expected to be approved by the State Bond Commission next Friday, July 25. A press release from the legislator’s office said Boukus worked with local officials, the state Office of Policy and Management, and the Office of Governor Dannel P. Malloy to ensure the funding was included in this round of state grants. “I am thrilled to see this funding move forward,” Boukus said in her press release. “The strong relationship between the state and town is paying dividends.” The state grant will fund the replacement of the natural grass field within the high school football stadium with a safer and more durable synthetic turf field. “The new field is a win/win,” Boukus said, according to the press release. “It will provide a safe playing surface for athletes of all ages and the town will save on maintenance.
