By MICHAEL LETENDRE STAFF WRITER BRISTOL – It was an up and down week for the Bristol Legion baseball team and over the last eight days, Post 2 took part in 10 games, going 5-5. After sweeping Winsted (10-0, 3-1) on Sunday, July 6, Bristol fell to Southington the following Tuesday by a 5-4 final from Southington high school. Ricky Lemke went five-plus innings on the mound but picked up a no decision. Troy Micale came on in relief and absorbed a tough loss as Southington scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to break up a 4-4 stalemate. Vin Nocera led the Bristol offense with a 3-for-3 showing that included a double while Andrew Martin went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Southington led 1-0 after one frame while Bristol went for four consecutive runs and halfway through the sixth and led by an imposing 4-1 push. But the home team rattled off four straight runs to win the contest by a 5-4 final.
