Dems put up Michalik for senate seat in 31st

On Wednesday, Robert Michalik received the nomination of area Democrats in his bid for the 31st Senate District – which includes Bristol, Plainville, Plymouth, Thomaston, and part of Harwinton. Michalik will run against Bristol city councilor Henri Martin, who received the Republican nod. Both candidates look to replace Republican Jason Welch, who chose not to run again. A press release from his election committee reported Michalik was joined by dozens of supporters at the Bristol Public library, where a reconvened convention was held following last month’s withdrawal of Democrat David Roche from the race. “I am honored and thrilled to be the Democratic candidate for state senate,” said Michalik, according to the press release. “I promise to work tirelessly every day to ensure a better future for our community – to create jobs, hold the line on taxes, and make investments in education and job training.” “I have known Rob for many years.
