Plainville finishes strongly

MIDDLETOWN – The Plainville track teams might not have placed at the State Open track and field championship meet on Monday, June 9. But even the rain soaked event at Middletown High School couldn’t keep a few of the Blue Devils’ finest from competing against several bigger schools and institutions. Plainville didn’t officially score at the meet but still had participants finish their seasons strongly at the competitive affair For the girls, Shea Echols sprinted in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes and came away with 16th and 21st places in the events, respectively. In the 100, Echols raced to a finish in 13.01 seconds while in the 200, she ended the fray with a time of 26.70. Plainville also had two of its warriors from the boys squad participate as Quentin Lux was in the 800 meter while Omar Abdelsame ran in the two mile challenge. Lux placed 16th overall in the half-mile with a finish of 2:01.53 while Abdelsame completed the event in 9:55.05, good for 21st place.
