By John Goralski Sports Writer For four quarters, the Blue Knights pummeled the Pomperaug defense. For four quarters, Southington matched Xavier’s torrid attack. Southington won the first game easily and just fell short in the second one, but it was good enough to secure their seventh win of the season to keep their postseason streak alive. With six games remaining, the Blue Knight lacrosse team improved to 7-3 overall. Pomperaug Win Kevin Cop scored five times with two assists. Jared DeFeo contributed three scores with one assist. Jarod Florian and Chris Gamber scored two goals apiece. Alex Jamele and Gamber added assists. Brian Mahon and Dan Saucier combined for 19 saves, and Southington stormed past Pomperaug, 12-3, on Monday, April 28. Edged by Xavier Xavier scored in the opening seconds, but Southington answered right back. On Thursday, May 1, the Knights matched Xavier goal-for-goal after the break, but came away with an 8-7 loss. Cop paced the offense with four goals. DeFeo scored twice with one assist.
